An NFL Power Rating is an estimate of team strength used to compare clubs and create an independent expected point spread. It is a decision tool—not a prediction that every favorite will win.
WHAT GOES INTO TEAM VALUE?
The PowerBook considers the existing team baseline, offense, defense, quarterback value, personnel availability, replacement quality, home-field context and other conditions that can materially affect expected performance.
POWER RATING UNITS VS. SPREAD IMPACT
A personnel adjustment can be recorded in Power Rating units and translated into expected spread relevance. They are related controls, but they are not labels to use interchangeably. The official team total must come from the audited ledger.
TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT MOVES
Short-term injuries and availability restrictions can create temporary adjustments with review dates. Trades, season-ending injuries and durable role changes may justify permanent adjustments. Both require evidence and confidence.
WHY THE MARKET CAN DIFFER
The betting market reflects public information, opinion, liquidity and price movement. The PowerBook builds an independent team value. A difference is a reason to investigate—not an automatic bet.
